Lunch and Dinner | Soup

There are three "daily" soups that are ALWAYS available, plus 5 "special" soups for each weekday (no weekend specials).

Daily Soups

  • Jook with Chicken
  • Vegetable Rice Soup
  • Double Noodle Chicken Soup
Jook with chicken is the same as the breakfast item, mostly tasteless except chicken, but pretty good if you need something light. It's also low-carb compared to the other two soups. Add salt if you really need it. Personal rating: 👍(thumb up)
Jook with chicken, upper right

Vegetable rice soup is basically your thick vegetable soup mixed in with rice. Tastes a bit like watered down minestrone. It's not bad, it's not that good either. Personal rating: 😐 (neutral face)

Veggie Rice Soup, lower right

Double noodle chicken soup is basically your normal chicken noodle soup except they used thicker noodles and more veggies. Didn't really taste the chicken any more. Personal rating: 😐 (neutral face)

Special Soups

  • Monday: cream of mushroom soup
  • Tuesday: tomato basil soup
  • Wednesday: lentil soup
  • Thursday: chicken noodle vegetable soup
  • Friday: Southwest black bean soup
I would give all of these EXCEPT Friday special Personal rating: 👍(thumb up). They are all savory and great for helping you wash down super-bland bits of vegetables on your plate. Though they kinda taste like Campbell's with fresh ingredients added.

I personally did not like Friday's Southewest black bean soup. It just didn't taste right to me. Personal rating: 😐 (neutral face)

Welcome

Welcome to Picky Patient's Guide to Sutter Health Patient Menu!  Click on "Start Here" in the menu bar if you are not sure where to go.  As a former patient, I took some photos, and decided to rate the individual items.  This is meant to be a totally un-serious look at "hospital food", and no infringement or disparagement was intended. I understand it's difficult to make meals for hundreds, if not thousands of people at a time. And the ratings are a bit of... tongue-in-cheek. Any way, on with the guide.
